Norlan Olivo is a Providence based artist and musician. He graduated from The Massachusetts College of Art and Design, earning his BFA in Photography. Norlan has been part of solo and group shows in the New England area and is currently a recipient of the Interlace Grant. His work touches on themes of self identity, collaboration, and a connection with the landscape.

About his work he writes; "I think in general portraits and landscapes are really frustrating because you're essentially chasing after a feeling you felt while standing in the field. You see something you like, you pull over, you walk around for a bit, you set up the camera, you look through the glass, it doesn't look right, you move, you like what you see, you take an image. You bring the image to a lab, they develop it, you scan it, then edit it and then maybe print it. By the time it gets to your computer screen or onto a sheet of paper you're about four layers removed from reality and it might not even make you feel something. My goal is to come as close as possible to what I felt at that moment.”
